Verizon Still Doesnt get it…

After reading this, I was again surprised at Verizon’s lack of understanding of how the world works now. It seems they think that all thier customers are somethign they own and have the right to monetize however they want. Unfortunately for Verizon, the web has reacted and VZN will pay the price.

They have a great service, no doubt, but thier approach to customers and their use of their service is really sad and reminds me of the old command and control regimes of the past. They still lock down their devices — last I checked they were still unwilling to let people add 3rd party software to the phones they own. Its too bad they still carry this arrogance. With the service they deliver in terms of data speed, it would seem they would win a lot of goodwill if they would treat their customers like people.

As Lidja Davis from ReadWriteWeb states:

Perhaps it’s time the company started putting some of its energy into the Twitter account it set up, and got up close and personal to its community and their needs.
